Applicants must pass a state examination and meet experience requirements.
Typically, this includes:
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program (about 4 years), or
Equivalent verified work experience in plumbing installation, layout, and system design
Relevant education—such as trade school or construction-related programs—may count toward a portion of the required experience.
Applicants must pass a state examination and meet one of the following:
Hold a Journeyman Plumber license for at least 1 year, or
Have an approved combination of education and advanced plumbing experience
Master-level licensing reflects the ability to plan, supervise, and manage plumbing system installations.
